Essential Job Functions Duties and Responsibilities

.

Life Enrichment Functions

  1. Assist with implementing, facilitating, and evaluating Pediatric and Young Adults Life Enrichment programs.

 

  1. Follow all facility and department policies and procedures. 

 

  1. Facilitate activities with other departments.

 

  1. Accompany residents on outings into the community as determined by their interests and abilities.

 

  1. Provide necessary adaptations (creative or supplies) to meet individual resident needs.

 

  1. Participate and assist in the planning of special events.

 

  1. Review, resolve, and properly refer departmental complaints and grievances and communicate to the Children's Center Life Enrichment Director of action(s) taken as appropriate.

 

  1. Assist with implementing and maintaining an ongoing quality assurance program for the Life Enrichment department.

 

  1. Participate in scheduled training including in-service and orientation classes.

 

  1. Ensure that department work areas are maintained in a clean, sanitary, and safe manner.

 

  1. Use creative problem solving to address resident needs.

 

  1. Collaborate with the Children's Center Director of Life Enrichment and other members of the IDT team to enhance quality of care. Assist the Children's Center Director of Life Enrichment in acting as an advocate for the pediatric and young adult residents.

 

  1. Assist the Children's Center Director of Life Enrichment in assessing children's developmental and coping needs and implementing developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions and programming such as play, leisure education, social skills training, adapted physical activity, sensory stimulation, music, and creative arts. 

 

  1.  Assist the Children's Center Life Enrichment Director in providing or cooperating with programs which assure continuity in the child's normal life experience.

 

  1. Assist the Children's Center Life Enrichment Director in Planning, organizing, implementing, facilitating, and evaluating clinical life enrichment programs for the pediatric and young adult units. .

 

Care Plan and Assessment Functions

 

  1. Follow the activity care plan and ensure the goals identified are incorporated into the daily activity routine for the resident.

 

  1. Review and revise activity care plans, assessments, and progress notes as directed by regulations.

 

  1. Document resident participation in activities.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.  Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.  Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and potentially hostile people within the facility. Must be able to speak, write and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, residents, and families. Must be able to lift 25lbs and sit, stand, kneel for lengthy periods on a regular basis.

Education and Experience

Some college experience preferred. Preferred candidates will have at least 6 months experience working with medically fragile infants and children.

Licensing/Certifications

CPR & First Aid required.
